Avernum 4: Greed and Glory is able to be drawn in a magnified mode to make the interface bigger. If you are having a hard time reading the text or selecting text, this should help. Playing in full screen will give the game more room for magnification. You can switch to other apps by pressing Alt-Tab (Command-Tab on Mac). Note that, on smaller monitors, there is a limit to how much the game can magnify itself. It has to leave the interface small enough to fit onscreen. On 15” or smaller monitors, only the higher magnification level may have an effect (and then only on fullscreen mode). If magnification still doesn’t help, sadly, a larger monitor may be necessary. |

- MacOS Tahoe has a bug that prevented Avernum 4 from hiding the system cursor in fullscreen mode. We made changes that may help with this problem. If it continues, we suggest playing in windowed mode while Apple deals with its situation.

Some users have reported that, when playing in full screen mode, the system cursor can’t disappear. There is a rare but annoying problem with recent (Sequoia and Tahoe) versions of MacOS. Apple introduced a bug which made the system ignore any calls by programs to hide this cursor. We have added some code to make the problem rarer, but we have as yet been unable to solve the problem completely. The problem disappears if you play the game in Windowed mode. (You can make this change on the Settings window.) If you are using Sequoia, upgrading to Tahoe might help (though this is a severe step just to get the game to work). We’re very sorry about this highly frustrating problem. If playing in Windowed mode in unacceptable, we recommend getting a refund from the online store where you purchased the game. |
